User Agreement

This User Agreement sets out your responsibilities as a user of Debate Arena (https://debate-arena.example) and the promises ("declarations") you make every time you post. It forms part of, and is read together with, our Terms of Service, Refund & Billing Policy, and Disclaimer / Content Policy. Contact: support@debate-arena.example.

By creating an account or posting, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to this User Agreement.

1. Eligibility

1.1 You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Service and to buy tokens.

1.2 You confirm that the information you give us (email, username, date of birth) is true and that you are legally able to enter into this Agreement under the Contracts Act 1950 (Malaysia).

2. Your account

2.1 You log in by a one-time passcode (OTP) sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping your email and account secure.

2.2 You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us at support@debate-arena.example at once if you suspect unauthorised use.

2.3 You will not share, sell, transfer, or buy accounts, use false identities, create duplicate accounts to evade limits, or use bots/automation to access the Service.

3. Tokens

3.1 Tokens are an in-app credit needed for certain actions (such as creating a debate or posting anonymously). They are a limited licence to use a feature — not money, with no cash value, non-transferable and non-refundable once credited.

3.2 There are two types: permanent tokens (bought, or given as a sign-up bonus or event reward) that never expire, and promo tokens (from promo codes) that expire on a due date and are then removed without refund. The Service spends your promo tokens first, then your permanent tokens.

4. Your declaration when you post

Each time you submit a debate topic, comment, or vote ("Your Content"), you declare and warrant that:

  • Your Content is yours, or you have all the rights and permissions needed to post it;
  • Your Content is lawful under the laws of Malaysia;
  • Your Content does not breach the Disclaimer / Content Policy (e.g. no violence, hate, sedition, harassment, obscenity, doxxing, or infringement);
  • Your Content does not infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
  • you understand Your Content may be public, may be quoted, screenshotted, or summarised by automated tools, and may be retained for moderation and legal reasons; and
  • you alone are responsible for Your Content and its consequences.

5. Acceptable conduct

You agree to use the Service lawfully and civilly. In particular you will:

  • argue ideas, not attack people;
  • stay on topic and choose the correct side of a debate;
  • respect other users' privacy; and
  • report, rather than retaliate against, content that breaks the rules.

You will not do anything prohibited by the Disclaimer / Content Policy, nor attempt to hack, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, manipulate votes/rankings, or otherwise disrupt the Service.

6. Anonymous posting

Posting "anonymously" only hides your username from other users. It does not make you anonymous to us or to the authorities. We may retain records and disclose them where required by Malaysian law. See the Privacy Policy.

7. Moderation and consequences

7.1 We use automated filters and user reports to review content. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that breach this Agreement or the law, as described in Content Removal & Takedown.

7.2 On termination for breach, any unused tokens are forfeited (see the Refund & Billing Policy). Serious or criminal content may be reported to law enforcement.

8. Your responsibility and indemnity

You agree that you, not Debate Arena, are responsible for Your Content, and you agree to indemnify Debate Arena and its administrator against any claim, loss, or expense arising from Your Content or your breach of this Agreement, as set out in the Terms of Service.

9. Changes

We may update this Agreement from time to time; the "Last updated" date will change and continued use means you accept the changes.

10. Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Malaysia and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Malaysian courts.
