Disclaimer / Content Policy
Effective date: 22 June 2026 Last updated: 22 June 2026
This Disclaimer / Content Policy does two things for Debate Arena (https://debate-arena.example):
- it makes clear that user content does not represent the views of the Platform, and that the Service is provided "as is" with limited liability; and
- it sets out, in plain language, what you may and may not post.
It forms part of our Terms of Service and is read with the User Agreement. Contact: support@debate-arena.example.
Part A — Disclaimer
1. We are a neutral host
Debate Arena is a debate and discussion platform. Its purpose is to present opposing viewpoints side by side. We act as a neutral host and intermediary — we do not create, write, endorse, verify, or fact-check the topics, comments, or votes submitted by users ("User Content").
2. User content is not our view
2.1 User Content reflects only the personal views of the user who posted it. It does not represent the views, opinions, beliefs, endorsement, or official position of Debate Arena, its administrator, staff, or partners.
2.2 The presence of a topic or argument on the Platform is not an endorsement of it. Debate formats deliberately show arguments "for" and "against"; seeing a viewpoint here does not mean we agree with it.
2.3 User Content may be inaccurate, incomplete, offensive, outdated, or misleading. You rely on it at your own risk.
3. No professional advice
Content on the Service is for general discussion only and is not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Consult a qualified professional before acting on anything you read here.
4. "As is" service
To the maximum extent permitted by Malaysian law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement). We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
5. Third parties
We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, content, or services of third parties, including our payment, email, hosting, and analytics providers, or any websites linked from User Content.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Malaysian law, Debate Arena and its administrator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service or from any User Content. Our total liability is limited as set out in the Terms of Service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Malaysian law, including the Consumer Protection Act 1999 where it applies.
Part B — Content Policy (what you may and may not post)
Strong disagreement is welcome — but it must stay lawful and civil. By posting, you confirm you accept these rules.
7. What you SHOULD do
- Argue the idea, not the person. Make your case with reasons and evidence.
- Stay on topic and pick the correct side of the debate.
- Be civil even when you strongly disagree.
- Post your own content, or content you have the right to share.
- Respect privacy — keep other people's personal details out of your posts.
- Report content that breaks these rules instead of retaliating.
- Follow Malaysian law at all times.
8. What you MUST NOT do
You must not post, link to, upload, or share content that:
8.1 Violence and harm
- Promotes, threatens, incites, plans, or glorifies violence against any person or group.
- Promotes terrorism, violent extremism, or any terrorist organisation.
- Encourages, instructs, or glorifies self-harm or suicide.
- Provides instructions to make weapons, explosives, or harmful devices.
8.2 Hate and discrimination
- Attacks, dehumanises, or incites hatred or discrimination against people because of race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, descent, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or similar protected characteristics.
8.3 Sedition, public order & national security (Malaysia-specific)
- Is seditious or tends to incite disaffection, or to stir up racial or religious hostility, contrary to the Sedition Act 1948 and the Penal Code.
- Threatens public order, national security, or the harmony of Malaysia's communities.
8.4 Harassment and abuse
- Harasses, bullies, stalks, intimidates, or threatens any person.
- Defames a person or organisation (false statements that damage reputation).
8.5 Sexual content and child protection

- Sexualises minors in any way. Child sexual abuse material is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the authorities.
- Shares non-consensual intimate images.
8.6 Privacy and impersonation

- Impersonates another person, organisation, or Debate Arena.
8.7 Illegal and harmful activity
- Facilitates crime, fraud, scams, gambling, or the sale of illegal goods.
- Breaches s.233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (content that is obscene, indecent, false, menacing, or offensive with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass).
8.8 Intellectual property
- Infringes copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other IP rights.
8.9 Platform integrity
- Is spam, malware, or phishing.
- Manipulates votes, rankings, or the token economy (bots, multiple accounts, exploits).
- Attempts to hack, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Service.
9. Highly sensitive and political speech
9.1 Political, religious, and racial topics are allowed only within the bounds of Malaysian law and these rules, and are held to a stricter standard.
9.2 Such content may be automatically flagged by our filters and queued for review. We may remove, restrict, blur, or decline to publish it, and may suspend or terminate the responsible account, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, where we reasonably believe it is unlawful or breaches our policies. Automated filtering is a precaution, not a legal finding.
10. Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, we may remove or hide content, warn, suspend, or permanently terminate accounts (with forfeiture of unused tokens — see the Refund & Billing Policy), and report criminal content to law enforcement. Enforcement is at our sole discretion and may happen without prior notice. The process and appeals are described in Content Removal & Takedown.
11. Reporting
Use the in-app report button or email support@debate-arena.example with a link to the content and a short description.
12. Governing law
This Disclaimer / Content Policy is governed by the laws of Malaysia and the exclusive jurisdiction of the Malaysian courts.
